The 2019 Middle School Youth Leadership Summit was hosted by 4-H Marianas in partnership with NMC-CREES: Family, Community and Youth Development Program, PSS and Hopwood Middle Schools’ Principal Dr. Liwag at Fiesta Resort and Spa on April 26, 2019. During this summit, Middle School students were placed in different round table topics to discuss issues that their peers face according to the 2017 Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance Survey (YRBS). Students had the opportunity to network and build relationships throughout the summit as well as discuss possible solutions to help mitigate issues they face as middle schoolers.

Washington State University's Brian Brandt, conducted a 4-H training for volunteers on community building and how to overcome learning disability challenges. During this training, volunteers came up with several issues traditionally faced during 4-H programming and discovered how to address the same issues through activities, games and communication techniques.

On May 11, 2019 4-H Marianas in partnership with Brian Brandt and Cindy Brandt, and NMC-CREES: Family, Community and Youth Development Program, held a continuation training for their 4-H volunteers. During the training, Brian and Cindy focused on team-building and communication activities to help strengthen leadership and facilitation skills for 4-H volunteers.

The 2019 Camp Maga’lahi was hosted by 4-H Marianas in partnership with NMC-CREES: Family, Community and Youth Development Program. This year the 78 youth participated in the two week environmental and cultural program. The Camp Maga’lahi program covered sailing and swimming with 500 Sails; cultural weaving, beading and banana painting with the Carolinian Affairs Office; Shoreline restoration with the Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance; Conservation Areas with the Division of Fish and Wildlife; CNMI history with the American Memorial Park Junior Ranger Program and marine debris with the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality.
