Agri Fair showcases NMC-CREES program

Despite the rainy weather, last week’s Saipan Agricultural Fair sponsored by the Saipan Agricultural Fair Association drew many attendees.

The event was also supported by the Office of the Governor, the Department of Land and Natural Resources, Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research Extension and Education Service, Office of Youth Affairs, 4-H Marianas and other organizations.

In addition to the livestock and plant competitions, staff members from NMC-CREES also handed out seedlings, hosted a mini-gardening activity for kids, displayed farm equipment and tools, and talked to farmers about cover crops and organic pesticides. CREES’ Aquaculture program also displayed the rabbitfish raised used for research and distribution. (NMC)
