In celebration of March as National Nutrition Month, Saipan residents are encouraged to prioritize their health by joining the Walk & Roll on Wednesday or WOW outreach, an initiative providing free blood pressure and blood sugar checks to promote diabetes and hypertension awareness.

WOW has made vital health screenings accessible to the community through its private and public partnerships, housed under the Northern Marianas College Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services-Nutrition and Health Program.

Community members are encouraged to receive their weekly health checks every Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Oleai Beach Pavillion on Beach Road.

the NMC-CREES Nutrition & Health team, in partnership with Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation-Non-Communicable Disease Program, Marianas Health, the NMC Nursing Club, and the Hardt Eye Clinic Diabetes Education Center, has assisted 450 people by providing free blood sugar and blood pressure checks in the Saipan community to date. Certified partners from both private and public sectors are on-site to provide professional and helpful assistance.

Numerous participants, including walkers, rollers, members of community organizations like Life in the Son Christian Church, healthcare professionals, and NMC students and staff have expressed satisfaction with the free health checks. They appreciate the increased health awareness that WOW has brought to the community.

Whether you’re a seasoned walker, roller, or just looking to take the first step toward a healthier lifestyle, WOW is designed to assist in your health journey. By bringing the community together to proactively safeguard their wellbeing, WOW helps transform health challenges in the CNMI into opportunities for a culture of empowerment, compassion, and lasting resilience.
