The Northern Marianas College has been awarded a $13.2-million grant by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration to develop the colleges’ Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services program further and its role in supporting regional economic development.

The University of Hawaii’s Pacific Business Center Program recently named Northern Marianas College’s interim dean for the Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services Patricia Coleman as a “Rising Star of Oceania.”

Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education ServiceAgriculture Production Program was recently granted a $725,000 research grant from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture to conduct vegetable and fruit variety performance trials in the CNMI.

Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Service was recently awarded a $460,00 grant from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture to continue its research of the commercialization of forktail rabbitfish in the CNMI.

Despite the rainy weather, last week’s Saipan Agricultural Fair sponsored by the Saipan Agricultural Fair Association drew many attendees.

The event was also supported by the Office of the Governor, the Department of Land and Natural Resources, Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research Extension and Education Service, Office of Youth Affairs, 4-H Marianas and other organizations.
