The latest news from Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Program

(NMC) —  Northern Marianas College’s Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services’ Family, Community, and Youth Development or FCYD program, in partnership with the University of Colorado School of Medicine, was recently awarded a $47,000 grant from the National Hazard Center to strengthen community resilience in the U.S. territories.

(NMC) — Dr. Zaidul Islam Sarker, lead Food Scientist and Program Leader at the Northern Marianas College Cooperative Research, Extension and Education Services, recently served as the keynote speaker for 3rd International Conference on Traditional Medicine in Modern Era for Cure on January 7-8, 2022, in India and presented information from his research regarding modified “green” method of supercritical fluid extraction.

(NMC) — The Northern Marianas College’s Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services was recently awarded $620,000 as part of a $10 million grant from the United States Department of Agriculture to study simulations to identify and test drivers of resiliency in food supply chains for decreasing food waste and increasing food and nutrition security, healthful diets and health among children.

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios have proclaimed Oct. 3 to 9, 2021, as National 4-H Week during a proclamation signing at the Northern Marianas College last Monday. Throughout the week, 4-H will highlight the hard work of the organization’s many youth members in the CNMI and recognize their dedication to making a positive impact on those around them.

Photo Release: 4-H Marianas, in collaboration with  Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services, recently held Camp Maga'lahi on Tinian. The camp, which consisted of more than 40 participants, strengthened the campers leadership and citizen skills. Currently, NMC-CREES and 4-H Marianas are hosting the camp on Rota.
