GMS students take tour of NMC-CREES agric center

Green Meadow School students and teachers recently visited the Center for Agriculture Development of the Northern Marianas College’s Cooperative Research and Extension Education Services in As Perdido to gain valuable information about farming.

Northern Marianas College recently welcomed Dr. Cheng Sheng Lee, the executive director for the Center for Tropical and Subtropical Aquaculture, as he visited the NMC Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services-Aquaculture and Natural Resources Program Center.

SAIPAN and Northern Islands Municipal Council Vice Chairwoman Antonia Manibusan Tudela took the concept of homegrown workforce capacity building to the next level last week by introducing 17th Council No. 16SNMIC-06, requesting  Department of Public Lands Secretary Teresita Santos to designate certain parcels on Saipan for the proposed open concept farmers market under the auspices of the CNMI Farmers Organization in support of homegrown fresh food production locally.

(NMC) — A transformative experience awaited 180 young individuals from Saipan as they gathered for 4-H Marianas’s Camp Maga’lahi. Held from June 12 to  24,  the camp was a collaboration between Northern Marianas College's Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services Family, Community, and Youth Development program and 4-H Marianas, and it aimed to immerse participants in indigenous culture, marine environments, and healthy eating practices.

THE U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded Northern Marianas College $10 million to help create, cultivate and expand a “next generation” agri-tourism workforce for the CNMI.
