Ismail Hossain and Kelly Zheng, two students from the CNMI, and youth delegates of 4-H Marianas, concluded their “One Marianas” project, with Hossain attending the True Leaders in Equity Institute (TLEI) conference in Bethesda, Maryland alongside CNMI 4-H Marianas Board Member and TLEI Co-Advisor Chelsea Yangirelfil. The conference prepares delegations to become change agents within the Cooperative Extension System to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for youth with disabilities. 

(NMC) — Many enthusiastic summer campers ages 7 to 12 recently concluded a week-long adventure at this year’s 4-H Camp Maga’lahi Tinian, held at the Fiesta Grounds from July 8 to 12. Guided by staff and counselors ages 13 to 19, campers were able to participate in an immersive experience that fostered teamwork and cultural exploration. The outdoor camp experience provided lasting memories and valuable skills for all participants.

(NMC-CREES) — An experience of a lifetime was crafted for Saipan’s youth as the first week-long session of the Juniors 4-H Camp Maga’lahi successfully wrapped up on June 21st. The session consisted of 94 campers ages 8 to 12, and 55 counselors ages 14 to 19 as they embarked on a multitude of fun activities from June 17 to 21 for the first session of the 10th annual 4-H Camp Maga’lahi, which was held at the Oleai Sports Complex in Susupe, Saipan.

A total of sixteen (16) students from the Northern Marianas College have successfully participated in two experiential learning field trips in Japan, hosted by the NextGen Program, with a dedicated focus on solid waste management, food science, and sustainable agritourism. The first field trip took place throughout various parts of Fukuoka, Japan, and the second field trip took place throughout Hokkaido, Japan. 

Rota Farmer First to Test Commercial Regenerative Ag Methods

Ambrosio “Ambi” Alubia, an established farmer residing on Rota who exports produce to Guam and Saipan, has witnessed significant success in the growth of his papaya fruits following his participation in the Northern Marianas College Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services’ Regenerative Agriculture Workshops along with technical assistance provided by CREES personnel.

On May 24, 2024, hundreds of community members on Rota gathered at Chamorro Village for the Luta Ag Fair to celebrate the island's agricultural producers. Students from Rota's public schools observed the colorful, award-winning produce displayed at the fair. Local farmers and ranchers showcased their livestock, ornamentals, and produce, providing an opportunity to highlight their agricultural work and dedication. The event allowed participants to view and appreciate the products of Rota's agricultural industry.
