The Coral Coast Foundation Corporation launched the Sustainable Fresh Greens project in Koblerville on Oct. 31, 2024. The project is a collaborative effort between CFCC, Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services, and the CNMI Green Growth Initiative to create a resilient and eco-friendly local food system in the Pacific Region. This initiative aims to promote sustainable farming, increase local food production, and engage the community through workshops and farm tours. The hydroponic farm, located at Kalayaan Inc., will prioritize growing nutritious salad greens and seasonal produce for school meals. This will minimize transportation emissions and promote a more sustainable food system.

With a commitment to boosting local food production and ensuring economic development in the CNMI, the Northern Marianas College (NMC) Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services (CREES) Agriculture Production program welcomes the addition of two highly qualified agricultural economists to its team: Matthew Deleon Guerrero and Dr. Patrick Hoyle.
